Cortes de Cima is a winery in the Alentejo started in 1988 - Hans and Carrie Jorgensen are making wine from over 100 hectares of vines. They’ve built everything from scratch as nothing was planted 25 years ago.
Originally from San Francisco, Hans and Carrie came from Northern Europe sailing to look for a place to start a vineyard. They finally stayed in the Alentejo as a storm stopped their boat. Also Carrie’s great grandfather was Portugese. They have a daugther and a son, born and raised in Portugal but who left home to study.
Cortes de Cima was the first winery to have a blog, a website and a boutique. They have over 2300 fans of Facebook and don’t make the most of Twitter yet with already over a thousand of followers.
They support Vinocamp because they believe strongly in the online fun wine community. They want to engage the consumer online and be part of the conversation. To Cortes de Cima, that’s where the future of wine marketing in Portugal is !
