The Wine Business Innovation Forum (#WBIS) was in full swing on 18 and 19 January in Munich. The program of the conference focused on the exchange of ideas and debates around communication in 2014 in the wine sector. Innovative video concepts, our friend Arnaud Daphy on packaging, reflections on writing in the digital world and great discussions about the best ways to reach the end consumer. The weekend was also an opportunity for everyone to drink a beer and to present new concepts and projects.
The startup accelerator 33entrepreneurs, which also supports Vinocamp, began their European tour after beginning inVinocamp Paris. They offered a coaching week in Bordeaux to the winner of the WBIS Business Award.
Responsible for organizing the competition for 33entepreneurs, I proudly presented the award to the Smart Wine Glass project whose CEO, Andre Ribeirinho has already been identified for its social network on Adegga Wine and consumer shows: the Wine Market. Smart Wine Glass allows producers and tasters to simply log on events. The wine glass is equipped with a chip that allows users to trace their tastings and to facilitate a purchase. Each time the visitor passes their glass on a sensor, it registers the data. The experience of the visit is then recorded and transfered. Bravo to Smart Wine Glass! Vinocamp Portugal, from 4 to 6 July, will be the opportunity to test the concept: the next Wine Market will take place in Lisbon on the same day that the Vinocamp.
Just behind on the podium are Wine With Spirit and Wine Data System. The French are also part of WineStartups with WineDataSystem. Powered by Aymeric Fournier and Matthew Ducamp, the startup has also integrated with 33ENTREPRENEURS accelerator. With their data system, traders, agents and buyers can create and easily update their wine catalog. The tool also facilitates sharing, accessibility and mailing. Discover on your iPad!
Wine With Spirit is a wine brand concept, even if it has no integrated technology. If wine is made to share emotions, emotions bottled here! Each reference is full of promise and evokes a story, a mood. Innovative, eye-catching and intelligent packaging.
In terms of innovative wine brands, we also found the “Winestar” brand for winelovers “Sayang”.
I also liked the idea of profusion of Jonathan Harcerode at the head of Open Active Group. His BottleBooks project aims to concentrate all existing information on a wine, using a tool to help aggregation. I must say that the company is ambitious and I am very curious to see the how this advances. Meanwhile, our contractor has also thought of a better way to buy wine found in your cellar, your wine shop, but via a mobile. We would love to find projects like Jonathon’s during Vinocamp France.
