[The Vinocamp Portugal official Langage is English, so is the report.]
The 7th startup competition organized by the 33entrepreneurs startup accelerator was held in Lisboa during Vinocamp this summer. Watgrid stood up amongst the other, it was our jury’s favorite – the team will take off to Bordeaux in November for a week of mentoring with our partner 33entrepreneurs. The vote of the public was quite different with a large preference for Trocwine.
Watgrid has a subset of products, called Winegrid, proposing solutions to add quantitative and real time data to the winemaking process, it allows a more precise analyse and an ability to learn from experience (fermentation, maturation, harvest date). The patent pending sensor technology uses self-enclosed fiber optics, prototypes were already used in Madeira wine and the startup is now looking for new opportunities to extend. The technology is cost effective if you consider that winemakers will lower their operational costs. The team of 5 is now growing, spending the next few months meeting with barrel producers to propose a special integration in the cellar with a new generation of wine storehouses. For Rogério, the Vinocamp was great to make interesting contacts in the wine industry, they are looking forward to the next editions and their visit to Bordeaux!
Trocwine proposes anyone that has a bottle in its cellar to exchange it online on a specific platform. The startup was born from Arthur Tutin’s experience of collecting wines: looking for new reference is sometimes hard and can be pricey. Hunters, owners of great bottles, amateurs or just the average consumer can present themselves « you can exchange cases of table wine with a great cru for instance, depending on your consumption type and what you are looking for, the goal is to be able to grow your cellar without spending too much ». Chateaux can have a special partnership with Trocwine and will be able to exchange their own wines. You will also be able to rate the troc-ers and see all the community wine exchanges. And how to meet a troc-er? Easy, every month, dinners will allow swappers to meet and maybe bring their bottle, a good way to save transport cost and meet passionate winelovers.
For Arthur, the competition was a super way to get feedbacks, meet the new generation of wine geeks and get some energy to develop his ideas. We are delighted to know Arthur that has the future of the #bottleswap in hand ;). Find his project on Fundovino (the new crowd funding platform for wine)!
