On Friday 25th September, Vinocamp crossed the channel for #Vinocamp London. A first in five years time!

What’s new in the old world? France is part of the old wine world and sometimes finds it difficult to go over the past and renew itself.  We gathered in the vibrant borough of Shoreditch, East London, to lift the lid on France’s progressive wine industry within a tech-savvy UK market.

A space to give an opportunity to everyone to learn more about what’s happening in wine tech across channel on both sides.  To demonstrate the wonderful world of innovation, startups were invited to showcase their concepts on stage. Vinocamp as usual, it was a very friendly event, ideal to meet new people in the industry.

Thank you to the guest speakers, Robert Joseph and Justin Howard Sneyd MW (The Hive Wine) for their provocative and inspirational insights on the French market and to Nicole Rolet (Chêne Bleu) and Christian Seely (Coates & Seely) for sharing their cross-cultural experience on building a vineyard on each side of the channel.

Thank you to the French, Capital Bread (bread delivery for London businesses) who allowed everyone to taste the British charcuteries and cheese on a delicious base.

You’ve been more than 100 to share this event, Cheers! Find the list of participants, startups and the details on the guest speakers on the event page.

A few themes for workshops in between tastings :

  • No “Loi Evin” in UK : what difference does it make ? or With or Without Evin, consequences and ideas
  • Wine critics and wine journalism : what’s the futur ? is there a way to collaborate between French & English
  • Is there a “French touch” in the way to sell wines ? What would be the key success factors ?
  • Start-ups / New sites / New services : how does it change the game ?
  • Beyond Digital: what is next in wine tourism?
  • How can wine retail survive the digital commerce?

Vinocamp ended up by a big English wine tasting and a tour in the vineyards of  Coates & Seely and Hattingley Valley Wines. Country-style lunch and bright sunshine to find in this summary of the day out.

A big thanks to the participants who shared their experience in blog posts, to be found just here:
